Power Plate®

How Does It Work?
Powerplate

Power Plate® equipment powers a new dimension in wellness solutions for all ages, lifestyles and physical abilities. Through a series of vibrations the machine creates instability in the body, activating muscle contractions between 25 and 50 times per second. One can improve stability, strength and power by applying more mass or more acceleration to the body. Many forms of training use mass (weight machines, free weights, etc), but Power Plate® applys acceleration to the body while keeping mass (your body weight) the same. This form of training optimally loads the human frame while minimizing high impact, high load and high stress factors. By increasing time and acceleration, Power Plate® makes the body feel heavier as if gravity or body weight were increasing.

Who Can Benefit?

You don’t have to be an athlete or in need of physical therapy to benefit from using Power Plate® machines. There are health benefits possible for everyone, such as enhanced metabolism, increased bone mineral density, reduction of the stress hormone cortisol, elevation of Human Growth Hormone and improved lymphatic flow. Power Plate® machines help the body in all these ways with little impact on joints and ligaments, and without always feeling like traditional “exercise.” The Power Plate’s low-strain, comfortable, safe, short duration protocols may allow all populations to achieve strength and power training effects from whole body vibration.

Dr. Julie Asks some important questions of interest to Celebration residents - Chiropractor Celebration Dr. Julie Asks...

Do nerves actually get pinched?
Chiropractors recognize two types of nerve disorders involved in subluxation. The least common is a pinched nerve that diminishes nerve supply to an affected organ or tissue. More common is the irritated nerve (facilitative lesion) which overexcites nerve communications to an affected organ or tissue. Chiropractic care has been shown to help with both types.
What are the two things drugs do?
Drugs can either speed up (laxatives, amphetamines, caffeine) a bodily process, or slow down (stomach antacids, sleep aids, antihistamines, muscle relaxers) a bodily process. Chiropractic care can produce the same results, but relies on the intelligence of the body. Chiropractors trust your body. Do you?
